Akhnaton is an iconic event location at Nieuwezijds Kolk 25, named after the legendary pharaoh Akhnaton and run by Stichting Akhnaton since the early 1970s. The venue was closely involved in the social, political and cultural developments of Amsterdam, and the provo movement even originated here. From the start the house was a centre for new music styles, and today it still hosts a diverse programme of jazz, funk, soul, Latin, African and world music nights.
