UBUHLANTI emerged at AfrikaBurn through a symphony of collective effort, where talents from Cape Town and beyond blended with the spirit of global community.
2023 marked a year of creative evolution for Ubuhlanti, with a stage and dancefloor designed as a miniature township, encircling the essence of Ubuhlanti (Xhosa for 'kraal') — a testament to the sacredness of South African culture. This circle of structures serves as a vibrant homage to the life and heritage within South African townships, brought to life by the very essence of community collaboration.

At the heart of Ubuhlanti is a vision far beyond the stage—it's a commitment to uplifting young artists from underserved backgrounds and integrating practical learning experiences for Bridges For Music alumni. This initiative is a celebration of shared culture, creativity, and the powerful outcomes of collective action.
This year, we're embraced by a new challenge that calls for an even greater communal effort. The relocation of our stage represents not just a physical move but a renewal of our collective commitment to the AfrikaBurn experience. We also have ambitious plans to upgrade the sound system, and build upon some of the structures and foundations of the stage and townsip from the previous 2 years
